Jane Jarecke

Jane Jarecke , age 85 of Columbus died Sunday, February 2, 2025 at Brookestone Acres.

Mass of Christian Burial is 11:00 am Thursday, February 6 at St. Isidore Catholic Church.  The family will receive friends on Thursday morning from 9:30-10:30 am at the church.  At 10:30 there will be a ceremony by members of the Nebraska Nurse Honor Guard followed by a rosary prior to Mass.  Interment is in All Saints Cemetery.

Mary Jane Jarecke, age 85, was born March 20, 1939 in Maquoketa, Iowa to Vincent and Dorothy (Michele) Shanahan. She graduated from Holy Rosary High School in La Motte, Iowa and the St. Vincent School of Nursing in1960 in Sioux City, Iowa. She married the love of her life Larry Jarecke on April 27, 1963 in Dubuque, Iowa. Larry died July 21, 2001.

Jane worked as a registered nurse for 52+ years in Iowa, Kansas and at St. Mary's and  Columbus Community Hospital in labor and delivery.

Jane was a member of Saint Isidore Church, Christian Mothers, the Eagles auxiliary, and  the WDS support group.

Son Todd Jarecke  of Aurora, CO
Grandchildren: Tim's-Kara, Tori (Joel), and Jarrett; Tammy's-Brock and Kayla (Zach), Todd's-Adam and Alex
3 Great Grandchildren: Ayden, Addison, and Zoey
Sisters Joan (Pete) Oberfoell of Dubuque, IA, Janet (Bob) Koerner of West Des Moines, IA, and Jeannine Nakashima of San Antonio, Texas.
