James Edwin Weldon

September 3, 1935 — February 6, 2025

James Edwin Weldon, age 89 of Columbus, Nebraska entered into the embrace of his heavenly father on February 6, 2025. Private family interment will be in Omaha National Cemetery at a later date.

The second of five children, Jim was born on September 3, 1935 in St. Edward, Nebraska to Vernon and Priscilla (Lowe) Weldon. He was married to Rose Bosak at Saint Rose of Lima in Genoa, Nebraska on June 2, 1955. They have four children: Cindy, Kelley, Sherri Jo and Scott.

Jim was a veteran of the Korean war, serving overseas from 1953 to 1955. Upon discharge, Jim worked a total of 42 years at Behlen manufacturing, starting on the building crew and finishing as the general manager of BMC transportation. Jim also worked as an auctioneer for Central Plains Auction, owned Skylark raceway in the late 1960s and was a drummer and vocalist for several bands. Jim was an avid hunter and loved wildlife. His kids frequently won show and tell contest at school by showing skunks, raccoons, foxes, and other exotic wildlife that Jim had adopted. Jim had a positive outlook on life and was grateful to the end.

He was proceeded in death by his daughter Cindy Lacroix, his parents, his sisters Shirley Thompson and Beth Evans, his brother Jerry Weldon and his brothers-in-law Harold Thompson and Dave Stuhlmiller.

He will be remembered fondly by those who survived him including his wife Rose Weldon, children Kelley (Dan) Schaecher, Sherri Jo (Bob) Wehrs and Scott (Michelle) Weldon. He is also survived by his sister Kathy Stuhlmiller, sister-in-law Lynn Weldon, brother-in-law Gerry Evans, son-in-law Gene Lacroix, numerous nieces and nephews, 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
