James C. Prucha died Friday at the Meridian Gardens in Columbus.
James C. Prucha was born on December 12, 1917 in Chicago, Illinois to Charles and Barbara (Tlamka) Prucha. He was raised in Brainard, Nebraska where he attended school. He moved to Chicago where he worked various factory jobs. James married Agnes Zach on July 18, 1942 at St Leonard Catholic Church in Berwyn, Illinois. The couple had a daughter Christine born July 8, 1948. She died that same day. James and Agnes became foster parents for 3 girls and a boy. James became a supervisor at Ceco Steel where he worked for 26 years. In 1975 the couple moved to Tennessee where he continued to work for Ceco Steel. James retired in 1980. The couple then moved to Columbus in 1997. James did volunteer work for the Columbus City Parks. He was member of St. Bonaventure Church, Knights of Columbus and the ZCBJ Lodge. James enjoyed playing the accordian.
