Jack Dean Stoakes

Jack Dean Stoakes, age 71, of Columbus, NE died Thursday, February 3, 2005 at his home. Funeral services are 11:00 am Monday, February 7 at the First Baptist Church in Columbus with the Reverend Larry Adams officiating. Visitation is on Sunday from 2:00 - 5:00 pm at McKown Funeral Home and on Monday from 10:00 - 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church. Graveside services are 3:00 pm Monday at the Sunrise Cemetery in Wahoo with Military Honors by Legion Post #82.

Jack Dean Stoakes was born October 23, 1933 in Albion, NE to Roger and Mabel (Cook) Stoakes. He grew up in Albion and moved to Mead, NE when he was 15. He served as a military policeman in the US Army during the Korean War. He married Verla Ann Seberger on April 11, 1956 in Wahoo. They moved to Columbus in 1965 and worked at Becton-Dickinson until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the VFW. He enjoyed golfing, playing pool, horse racing, and vacationing.
