Jack L. Fickel, 85 of Lincoln, formerly of Columbus, died Friday, June 10, 2016 in Lincoln.
Jack was born May 13, 1931 in Columbus to Edward and Olga Fickel. He grew up in Columbus and graduated from Kramer High School in 1949. Jack was drafted into the US Army in March of 1952. He served as a Sergeant in Germany until his discharge in 1954. On September 4, 1955 Jack was united in marriage to E. Jane Jepsen in Columbus. Jack worked for the Columbus Telegram as a commercial printer before going to work as a letter carrier for the US Postal Service in 1960 until retiring in 1993. While working at the post office, Jack was also employed part-time at the Art Printery. Jack then went to work at First National Bank as a courier. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Lincoln and while living in Columbus was a member of Peace Lutheran Church where he served on the financial committee and was an usher. Jack was a member of the VFW and was a 60 year member of the American Legion. He loved playing sheepshead with friends and family.
