Isidore Kwapnioski, age 84, of Tarnov, Nebraska died Thursday August 8, 2002 at his home. Services are 10:30 am Tuesday, August 13 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Tarnov. Visitation begins after 4:00 pm Monday at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus with a Vigil service at 7:30 pm, also at the funeral home. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 9:30 am until service time at St. Michael's Church in Tarnov. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery with Military Honors by the Platte Center American Legion Parry Post #283 Honor Guard. Memorials are suggested to St. Michael's Catholic Church in Tarnov.

Isidore Kwapnioski was born December 29, 1917 in Tarnov to John & Victoria (Ziemba) Kwapnioski. He attended school and worked in Tarnov before serving in the US Army 24th Infantry Division during WWII from January 1942 - October 1945 where he was stationed in the Pacific Theatre. Isidore received the WWII Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal and the Philippine Liberation Medal. Following WWII he married Helen Barnas on May 30, 1949 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Tarnov. He lived in Tarnov where he worked for Slovinski Trucking, Boesch Motor Company, and as a mechanic for the Platte County Highway Department until retirement. He enjoyed working on antique cars, gas engines, gardening and visiting with family and friends. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Platte Center American Legion, Columbus VFW Post 3704 and served on the Tarnov Village Board for many years.

Six Grandchildren: Craig, Angie, Mitchell Kwapnioski of Columbus. Andy Kwapnioski, Abby Baumann, and Jeff Baumann of North Platte.
