Irvin Mueller, age 92, of Columbus, died Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Columbus Community Hospital.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 9, 2026, at Peace Lutheran Church with Rev. Joel Ripke officiating. Visitation is Sunday 2:00-4:00 p.m. at McKown Funeral Home. Burial is in Roselawn Cemetery with Military Honors by The American Legion Hartman Post 84.
Irvin Mueller was born June 14, 1933 in Clearwater, Nebraska to Louis and Emma (Suhr) Mueller. He grew up in the Platte County area. He received his education at Monroe High School. During his high school years, he ran track and field and proudly held a record for many years. He was also involved in 4-H, showing hogs and horses. On May 24, 1953 Irvin was united in marriage to Juanita Moore in Columbus at Trinity Lutheran Church. He served in the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany. When he returned, he farmed in the Platte Center area for over 30 years, raising Hampshire sheep, cattle, hogs, and Arabian horses.
Irvin enjoyed spending time with his wife and children, ballroom dancing, running the Downtown Runaround, radio controlled airplanes and boats, and collecting antique tractors. Irvin was active in the preservation and restoration of the pioneer Granville Cemetery in rural Platte County. He served as President on the Lakeview School Board in the 1980s. Irvin also founded the Good Guys 4-H Club in which the kids were members.
