Irene Slizoski

Irene Slizoski, age 84, of Sioux City, Iowa, died Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Casa De Paz in Sioux City, Iowa.

Irene Pauline Slizoski was born December 27, 1928 in Greeley County, Nebraska to Michael John and Anna (Kowalski) Valasek. She grew up in the Wolbach, St. Paul and Greeley area. Irene married Edward Slizoski in February of 1947. The couple lived in Fullerton, Genoa and Tarnov. Irene later moved to Columbus and also lived in the Madison and Norfolk area before finally moving to Sioux City, Iowa. Having 11 children, she worked hard raising large gardens, tending to farm animals and cooking huge meals. She enjoyed ceramics, cross-stitch, playing bingo, going to casinos and Polish music. In her younger years Irene played the accordion and sang Polish music with friends and family.
