Hilbert Joseph Robak was born March 26, 1916 in Polk County, NE to John and Thelma "Dolly" (Stanczyk) Robak. He graduated from Fullerton High School in 1933. Hilbert served in the US Army from May 1, 1942 to December 19,1945. During World War II he served in the South Pacific and the Phillipines, earning the Bronze Star and the Combat Infantry Badge for his service. Hilbert married Frances Laska on September 20, 1948 at St. Lawrence Church in Silver Creek. They made their home in Silver Creek, where he owned and operated the Robak 66 Station and was a Greyhound Bus Depot agent from 1951 until he retired in 1983. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society, American Legion for 63 years, VFW, and was a volunteer fireman in Silver Creek for 32 years.
