Hilbert Lesiak, 76, died Friday, July 26, 2013 at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Hilbert T. "Bert" Lesiak was born April 1, 1937 in Nance County, NE to Alex John and Rose Mary (Zaucha) Lesiak. He attended school in rural Nance County before enlisting in the US Navy in 1955 with his brother Alonzo Lesiak. Following his discharge he returned to Columbus where he worked for Behlen Manufacturing for 18 years. Bert married Wilma Kruse in May of 1961 and out of this union they had 4 children. In 1977 he retired from Behlens and became co-owner of Ski Lounge until 1986. His hobbies included working on cars, fishing, hunting, and various carpentry projects. Bert loved Polish Music and was a self-taught button accordion player. His talents allowed him to play in a polka band that was featured on the Big Joe Polka Show at Peony Park and at various weddings and at local bars.
