Helen Sophie Prososki, 93, of Genoa, formerly of Columbus, died Saturday, May 27, 2006 at Genoa Community Hospital. Services are 10:30 am Thursday, June 1 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus. Visitation is on Wednesday from 4-7 pm at McKown Funeral Home. There will be a 4:00 pm Ss. Peter & Paul Altar Society Rosary and a Vigil Service at 7:00 pm, also at the funeral home. Visitation continues Thursday morning from 8-10 am at McKown Funeral Home. Interment is in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
Helen Sophie Prososki was born January 12, 1913 in Loup City to Charles and Victoria (Cieloha) Zelasney. She was raised in Loup City where she attended schools. On February 22, 1938 she was united in marriage to Charles Prososki in Pilsno. They farmed in the Krakow area. In 1990 they moved to Columbus and in 1997 Helen moved to Genoa Long Term Care Center. Helen was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed baking a Polish bread, Kolac and cooked for many weddings and events. She also loved to garden and play bingo. Helen was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus, St. Theresa Sodality, Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Krakow, and Ss. Peter and Paul Altar Society.
