Helen Mimick

Helen (Gonka) Mimick, age 92, of Columbus, Nebraska died Monday, November 19, 2007 at the Columbus Community Hospital. A Memorial Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 23, 2007 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus with Reverend Del Lape officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service at McKown Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Friday morning from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. also at the funeral home. Burial is in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery in Columbus.

Helen was born November 10, 1915 in Polk County, Nebraska to Gregory and Mary (Czarnik) Gonka. She attended St. Anthony Grade School and graduated from St. Bonaventure High School in 1934. On October 23, 1940 she was united in marriage to Adam E. Mimick at St. Anthony Church in Columbus. Helen worked for Becton-Dickinson for 20 years. She was a member of St. Anthony Church, St. Theresa Sodality and the Senior's Bowling Group. She was an avid Husker Fan and Chicago Cub Fan. She enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casinos.
