Helen Melcher of Lincoln died Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Bryan LGH West in Lincoln.
Helen Melcher was born January 20, 1933 in Columbus to JB and Sophie (Moersen) Ternes. She grew up in Columbus and graduated from St. Bonaventure High School. She continued her education at Creighton and Marquette Universities and received her Bachelors Degree in English and History. Helen married Jerald Melcher in Columbus at St. Bonaventure Church. Helen taught for short time but primarily raised her family. They lived in York and Hastings for a few years before returning to Columbus to finish raising their family. Helen moved to Omaha, to Colorado after her husbands death, and eventually to Lincoln where she has resided for the last few years. While living in Colorado, Helen was active in the Sister Carmen Food Bank which she really enjoyed. She enjoyed reading, keeping up on current events, and most of all, following and supporting her grandchildren in their activities.

8 Grandchildren: Patrick, Erin, Megan, Ben, Kelsey, Matthew, Andrew and Laura
3 Great Grandchildren: Poppy, Hutchins, and Sawyer
