Helen Hall

Helen Theresa (Serres) Hall, 79, of Bartlett, Nebraska, passed away on July 13, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Memorial designations may be made out to the family for future designation.

Born on June 3, 1947, the youngest of eight children to Paul and Eva (Barrett) Serres, Helen grew up in Sioux County, where she learned the values of hard work, faith, and family that shaped her entire life. She graduated from Sioux County High School and earned her teaching degree from Chadron State College. Helen’s first teaching job was in a one-room country school in Sioux County, where her fun-loving spirit made her a bright presence in the classroom and community.

On October 11, 1969, Helen married Lamoine Hall, and together they made their home in Bartlett. There, Helen devoted herself to raising their daughters—Paula Sue (Brad Pokorny) of Halsey, NE and Cristine Loree (Rod Hoelscher) of Linwood, NE—while helping build a successful family cattle business. That operation continues today through Paula, Brad, and their sons.

Helen also continued in education, substituting and working in the office at Wheeler Central High School for many years, supporting students, staff, and her community with kindness and reliability.

Helen treasured her grandchildren: Cade (Kaitlyn) Pokorny and son Wade; Cauy (Jaylee) Pokorny; Dane Pokorny; Loren Hoelscher; Paige Dutton-Mofford (Gavin) and son Merrick; Brooke Hoelscher; Evan Hoelscher; and Isaac Hoelscher. She was blessed to hold both of her great-grandsons.

A gifted musician, Helen played several instruments but especially loved the piano. Her classic country and gospel music filled homes, churches, and community gatherings. Helen also cherished her trips out west, where she visited her family, the Serres homestead, and the historic Montrose Catholic Church.

She is survived by her daughters; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters Mary Haun (Joe) of Thornton, Colorado and Edna Lewis of Potter, NE; brother George Serres (Becky) of Crawford, NE; sister-in-law Mary (Hall) Schloz and her husband Stan of Phoenix, Arizona; sister-in-law Jackie Serres of Norfolk, NE; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Lamoine (2013); her parents; brothers Gene, Floyd, and Joe Serres; sister Eileen Anderson; and several extended family members.

Helen’s life was one of music, faith, family, and joy. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who loved her.
