Gordon Zeller, age 86, died Monday, January 2, 2012 at the Eastern Nebraska Veterans Home in Bellevue.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Eastern Nebraska Veterans Home, Bellwood Legion or to Aquinas High School.
Gordon G. Zeller was born December 23, 1925 in Bellwood, Nebraska to August & Lydia (Zeller) Merz. He lived in Columbus before moving to Wyoming at an early age. He first served in the United States Navy during WWII. Upon his discharge from the Navy he returned to the Bellwood area where he farmed with his grandfather. He married Mary Margaret Peters on June 13, 1950 at St. Peters Catholic Church in Bellwood. In 1951 he was reinducted into the Navy during the Korean War and served until November 1952. He was a past member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in rural Bellwood and current member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Bellwood. Gordon entered the Veterans Home in Bellevue in September 2008.
Gordon enjoyed challenges. He was an innovative farmer and implemented many new practices. He was airplane pilot and enjoyed working on projects with his family and on the farm.
He is survived by his wife: Mary of LaVista; son: Terry (Janet) of Bellwood; daughter: Becky (Todd) Topil of Eudora, KS son: Mark of Lincoln; daughter Margaret (Darin Mueller) Esser of Lincoln; six grandchildren; brother: Gerald (Barbara) Zeller of Beaumont, CA; sister: Lorna Johnson of Laramie, WY.
He was preceded in death by: sister: Marilyn Jarvis and one daughter in infancy: Christine Zeller.
