Glen Boss, Sr., 79, of Bellwood died Wednesday, July 30, 2003 at Columbus Community Hospital. Funeral Services are 10:00 a.m. Friday August 1, 2003 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Bellwood with Reverend Jeremy Hazuka officiating. Burial will be in the Ss Peter & Mary Cemetery rural Bellwood with Military Honors by American Legion Post #327. Visitation is 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Thursday with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus. Visitation will continue Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the church.
Glen Boss, Sr. was born May 1, 1924 to John & Clara (Gerber) Boss. He grew up in the Columbus area. He married Emily Zoucha on January 6, 1942 in Grand Island. On March 17, 1943 he entered the US Army during World War II where he served as a tank driver in the Philippines and received many medals of honor. He served until 1945 when he returned and farmed for several years. He then went to work for Behlen Manufacturing as a tool and die maker. In later years, he and his wife owned the E & G Corner Bar in David City until his retirement. Glen was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Bellwood.
