As a young person, Glen worked hard in the family poultry and hatchery business in Exeter. A lover of sports, he played football, basketball, and baseball while in high school and later taught and coached these sports at various high schools across Nebraska.

He graduated from Exeter High School in 1952 and completed his Bachelor's degree in education from Kearney State College in 1957. In 1971, he received a Masters degree in Education Administration from the University of Nebraska- Lincoln. Glen married Alice Wilson on August 13, 1954 at St. Paul Methodist Church in Lincoln. This year would be their 65 th wedding anniversary.

Glen worked as a teacher, coach, and high school administrator in several schools in Nebraska. He also owned a grocery store with his brother, Karl, in Valley, NE from 1961-65. He and Karl owned and operated "The Red Barn Riding Stable" during the summer months in Pequot Lakes, Minnesota from 1965-71. Those summers created wonderful memories for the family. Everyone enjoyed riding horses and guiding trail rides through the beautiful Minnesota woods.

He loved the outdoors, nature, hunting, fishing, gardening, and working in his yard. His best hunting day of all would have probably been "Opening Day of Pheasant Season" with one of his beloved hunting dogs and his hunting companions. Glen was a gifted woodworker and he especially enjoyed crafting clocks. He leaves behind beautiful treasures for his family to cherish.

Glen was devoted to his family and loved attending his grandchildren's activities and sporting events. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church for over 50 years. His life reflected his caring for others in his willingness to offer his talents to various projects in the church and community and participation in numerous mission trips.

Glen is survived by his wife, Alice, and children, Rocky (Mary) Plettner, Cindy (Rich) Rohde, Glenda (Gary) Plettner-Nelson, and Amy Plettner, ten grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters, and their spouses.
