Gladys R. (Moffit) Engebretson

Gladys Engebretson, age 71 of Columbus, NE passed away on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE.

Gladys Rae Moffit was born on June 13, 1947 in Bismarck, North Dakota to George W. and Margaret (Glum) Moffit. She was raised in Moffit, ND and attended Bismarck High School.

Gladys was united in marriage to Dennis Engebretson on September 24, 1965 in Anaconda, Montana. They had two children: Barbara and Scott.

Gladys was a very strong-willed, hard-working, independent woman who worked two jobs most of her life. After 47 years of working at Vishay/Dale Electronics, she retired in 2013, but her true passion was waitressing.

Gladys is survived by her daughter, Barbara Engebretson (Delbert Steinbach) of Genoa, NE, and son, Scott (Ivy) Engebretson of Council Bluffs, IA; grandchildren Katie Kohl, Kristina Kohl (Brandon Benkendlorf), Angel McCoy and Kyle McCoy, all of Genoa; Eric Engebretson, and Cordell Engebretson of Council Bluffs, IA. She was also blessed to have two great-grandchildren: Tessa Bennett and Tanner McDonald.

She is also survived by Nancy Moffit, Raymond Moffit and Rose Ohlhauser of Bismarck, ND; Ronni (Linda) Moffit of Lincoln, NE; Irene Reather of Portland, OR; Shirley Lave of Billings, MT; Jean (Dick) Austad of Fairfield, MT; Betty Grage of Hawarden, IA; Donna Houle of Dunseith, ND, and Marcella Moffit of Rolla, ND.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings Douglas Moffit, Lee Moffit, Jackie Dewald, and Susan Manson.

There will be a Celebration of Life at the Genoa Senior Center, 115 N. Oak Street, Genoa Nebraska from 2:00 to 6:00 pm on Saturday, September 22, 2018.
