Gilbert died Sunday, April 28, 2013 at the Shalimar Gardens Assisted Living in Fremont, Nebraska.
Gilbert George Cave was born September 29, 1923 in Spalding, Nebraska to George and Mary (Schleich) Cave. He attended Spalding Academy and graduated from Genoa High School. Gilbert served in the U.S. Navy during WWII from August, 1941 to September, 1945. He married Corrine Seiler on September 2, 1946 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Genoa, Nebraska. Gilbert worked as a printer at the Art Printery for many years. He also worked for Loup Public Power and Kosch Manufacturing.
He was a member of St. Isidore Church and Hartman Post #84 American Legion where he served as Legion Commander in 1977. Gilbert was an avid bowler and golfer and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family.
