Germaine Schmidt

Germaine Schmidt of Columbus, formerly of Platte Center, died Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Columbus Community Hospital.

Germaine Schmidt was born August 6, 1922 in the St. Bernard/Lindsay area to Frank and Isabelle (Schaefer) Albracht. She grew up on the family farm and received her education at St. Bernard School. Germaine was united in marriage to Ralph Schmidt on September 17, 1945 at St. Bernard Catholic Church. They lived in Stratton, CO for 11 years before moving to Platte Center in 1956. Germaine worked at Dale Electronics and Platte Center Elementary School. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the St. Anns Society. Germaine loved playing cards, quilting, embroidery, spending time with family and friends, and shopping.
