Obituary

Geraldine “Jeri” Ainsworth of Columbus died May 4, 2026 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln.

Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 am Tuesday, May 12 at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus. Visitation is on Monday from 5-7 pm with a 7:00 pm Vigil service to follow, all at St. Isidore Church. Visitation continues on Tuesday morning from 9:30 am until service time at the church. Interment is in St. Patrick/Joseph Cemetery in rural Platte Center.

Geraldine M. “Jeri” Ainsworth was born December 22,1943 in Neligh, NE to Leo and Ione (Penne) Hausmann. She grew up in Elgin and graduated from St. Boniface Schools. She moved to Columbus where she worked for Dale Electronics. While in Columbus she met and married Lawrence “Larry” Ainsworth on September 7, 1963 at St. Boniface. Jeri worked at D&L, cleaned houses, worked retail, but primarily raised her family.

Jeri loved to draw, gardening, bowling (league bowled for 50+ years), baked many a birthday cake, and loved her pets. Jeri loved time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, playing ball with all of them.

Jeri was a member of St. Isidore Church and supported many Catholic charities.

Daughter Deb (Steve) Hellbusch of Creston

Grandchildren Dustan and Cody (Gianni)

Great Grandchildren Elsie, Milo, and Maclan

Daughter Tammy (Dan) Klevemann of Columbus

Grandchild Clay

Great Grandchildren Dominic and Meadows

Daughter Keri (Rich) Dickerson of Lincoln

Grandchildren Logan (Taylor Wynn) and Corinne

Brother Jim (Ruth) Hausmann of Kearney

Brother Mike (Judy) Hausmann of Papillion

Brother Don Hausmann of Evergreen, CO

Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins


She is preceded in death by:
