Gerald Marker

Gerald L. "Sonny" Marker, died Sunday, January 3, 2016 at the Columbus Community Hospital.

Gerald was born March 14, 1931 in Ravenna, Nebraska to Harvey and Nellie (Suntken) Marker. He grew up in Spalding where he helped on the family farm. He entered the U.S. Army in 1952, serving in Germany and France. When he returned he married Dolores Sandman on June 28, 1955 at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Petersburg, Nebraska. They moved to Columbus where he worked at Gerhold Concrete, then moving to Elgin where he took over his father-in-laws mail route for 2 years. He then moved to Platte Center and returned to work at Gerhold Concrete. In 1975 they built a house north of Columbus. He retired from Moorman Feed Company after 25 years. Gerald enjoyed yard work, gardening, building bird houses, making rosaries and jewelry and playing the guitar.
