Jerry was born on March 1, 1952, to Leo and Mary (Pelan) Adamy of Bellwood. Jerry grew up on the farm, where he developed a love for horses and dogs. He graduated from David City High School in 1970.
In his early years, Jerry sold Combined Insurance and Culligan Water Softeners. His true love was always cars. So, when he started selling vehicles at Davis Chevrolet in David City, he found his calling. In 1981, he started Ymada Auto Sales in David City. In 1983, he and family opened Adamy Chevrolet & Oldsmobile Inc, until 1997. He then went to sales at Phil Spady Chrysler. His last career move was at Clock Tower Auto Mall in Columbus until retirement.
Jerry never met a stranger. He loved making people laugh. He was always up for fun. He enjoyed hot rods, racing stock cars and drag cars. A special joy was creating Ymada Speedway with his brothers and friends. Jerry was a member of the Midwest Street Rod Association, Lincoln Sower Club, Columbus Hog Chapter and a member of Presentation Catholic Parish.
In the latter part of his life, Jerry loved riding his Harley and going to Sturgis each year. He loved visiting (an Adamy specialty) with his family & friends. He truly was one of a kind.
Jerry is survived by his brother Pat (special friend Debra Berchtold) of Columbus, brother John (Amy) of Columbus, sister-in-law Deb Adamy of Bellwood, Aunt Kay Adamy of David City, many nieces and nephews and the best cousins anyone could wish for. His parents, Leo & Mary Adamy preceded him in death, as did his sister-in-law Peggy Adamy and his brother Carroll and niece LeAnn Adamy Eaton.
