George Svasek, age 69, of Columbus died Wednesday, November 28, 2012 in Grand Island.
George A. Svasek was born May 20, 1943 in Columbus, Nebraska to Joseph and Helen (Valish) Svasek. He grew up in Schuyler and graduated from Schuyler High School. He worked at various jobs before joining the United States Navy. Upon his discharge he returned to Schuyler. George married Marlene Sparks Epp on June 28, 1973 in Lincoln. They lived in Columbus before moving to the lake home near Monroe. In 2002 they returned to Columbus. George and Marlene owned and operated G&M Marine in Columbus for 19 years until their retirement. George enjoyed working and spending time with his family.
He is survived by:
wife: Marlene of Columbus, 2 sons: Billy Epp of Wilbur and John (Pat) Epp of Grand Island, 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, sister: Lorene (Harvey) Tuma of Columbus, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Milford, sister: JoAnn Svasek and great granddaughter: Kailey Mae Epp.
