George Koenig

George W. Koenig, 94, Butler County farmer died Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at Columbus Community Hospital after a brief illness. Funeral services are 10:30 am Friday, May 26 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in rural Bellwood. Visitation is on Thursday from 4-7 pm at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus with a Vigil Service at 5:30 pm, also at the funeral home. Visitation continues Friday morning from 9:30 am until service time at St. Joseph's Church. Interment is in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Mr. Koenig, son of William and Anna (Nebosis) Koenig, was born in Butler County on October 24, 1911, and received his education in the Butler County rural schools. He lived and was actively engaged in raising livestock three miles west of Bellwood prior to his death.

Mr. Koenig was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church of rural Bellwood. Survivors include one niece, Lila Hiller, of Grand Island, NE., one nephew, Otto "Jack" Selzer, of Bellwood, NE., and five Great Nieces and four Great Nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; three sisters, Lucile (Koenig) Selzer, Anna (Koenig) Francis and Luella Koenig; and two brothers, Albert and Ernest Koenig.
