Gary L. Holmen, age 67, of Columbus, Nebraska died Sunday October 19, 2003 at the Columbus Community Hospital. Memorial Services are 10:30 am on Thursday, October 23 at McKown Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Ritter officiating.
Gary L. Holmen was born March 30, 1936 in Traill County,North Dakota to Ingvald & Helma (Frydenland) Holmen. He graduated from High School and attended college majoring in agriculture. He farmed around Hatton, North Dakota for several years. He moved to Grand Island, NE in 1972 where he worked at Sperry New Holland. He moved to Columbus in 1983 where he worked as a handyman. He also served in the Air Force National Guard. He was an avid horse racing fan and enjoyed vacationing at the lake in Schuyler.
He is survived by a daughter; Kelly Bruss of Wood River, NE, and two grandchildren; Akazzia Bruss and Mikkena Bruss of Wood River. He was preceded in death by a sister Josephine. Memorials may be made to the family.
