Gail died Saturday, August 27, 2016 at her home in Columbus.

Gail (Rosenthal) Placek was born September 4, 1949 in Columbus, Nebraska to Carl and Neva (Simmons) Tschauner. She graduated from Columbus High School. On April 19, 1969 Gail was united in marriage to Tom Rosenthal at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus. Even though she was not Polish, Gail embraced her husband's heritage. Gail worked for NPPD, 20 years at Fleischer Manufacturing and 16 years as the Executive Secretary to the Superintendent of Columbus Public Schools. Following Tom's death in 2002 Gail later married Larry Placek on September 6, 2008 in Avon, Colorado. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. Gail enjoyed raising flowers in her garden, spending time with family and spoiling her grandchildren.

She is survived by:

Step-Grandchildren: Averee and Noah Peterson, Dustin (Kaushay) Remmenga and Kevin Remmenga, Amanda (Zach) Underwood
Great Grandchildren: Brooklyn and Elliot Neilson, Kaylee and Aubrey Underwood, Kyhlie and Knox Remmenga
