Frederick "Friitz" Flamme of Columbus died Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Columbus Community Hospital.
Frederick "Fritz" Flamme was born October 15, 1933 in Polk County, NE to Fred and Anna (Johannes) Flamme. He grew up in Polk County and attended Columbus Schools. Fritz entered the US Army where he served from 1953-1955 stationed at Fort Riley, KS and in Japan. He married Janet Melcher in 1956. Fritz later married Fern (Hoshor) Long on March 13, 1976 at the First United Methodist Church in Columbus. Fritz installed carpet and linoleum and later worked for Central Sand and Gravel for 21 years. He retired in 1999. Fritz was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the American Legion, and the VFW. He enjoyed gardening and going to casinos.
