Ferdinand "Fred" Mihulka, age 71 of Columbus, died Saturday, May 18, 2024 after a short, courageous battle with cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial is 1:00 pm Friday, May 24 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church. There will be a Vigil service on Thursday at 5:00 pm with visitation to follow from 5:30-7:30 pm, all at McKown Funeral Home. Visitation continues on Friday from 12 Noon until service time at the church. Interment is in Columbus Cemetery.
Ferdinand "Fred" Mihulka was born September 18, 1952 in Columbus to Ferdinand "Fritz" and Genevieve (Dubsky) Mihulka. He grew up in Columbus with two brothers and three sisters. Fred attended Columbus Public Schools, Platte Community College and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He worked for Appleton Electric Company for over 26 years.
Fred enjoyed playing golf, snow skiing, being at the lake, riding his bike and caring for his cat Spanky. He loved helping others, had a huge heart, and loved spoiling his nieces and nephews. He took great pride in caring for his parents, he religiously donated blood, assisted his older brother in building his home, and taught his younger brother his passion and love of golf. Fred was a member of St. Bonaventure Church.
