Frank Sobota

Frank Sobota, age 63, of Columbus died Friday, July 8, 2005 at Mory's Haven in Columbus. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Isidore Catholic Church. The Rev. Joe Miksch will officiate. Graveside services with military honors will be at 2:30 pm Tuesday at the Heun Cemetery in rural Schuyler. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Monday at St. Isidore Church. There will be a vigil held at 7:00 p.m. Monday evening also at the church. Visitation will continue Tuesday morning 8-10 a.m. at the McKown Funeral Home.

Frank Emil Sobota was born on November 20, 1941 in Columbus to Emil D. and Eleanor (Svec) Sobota. He grew up in rural Colfax County. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration/Accounting degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Frank served as a Captain in the US Army and the reserves from 1965-1973. He married Jean Elizabeth Gilpin on October 29, 1966 at Ft. Campbell, KY. Frank worked in Columbus as a stock/commodities broker. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, past President of the Jaycees, and was active in the Columbus Area Right to Life. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and playing in polka bands. Memorials are suggested to Morys Haven or to the wishes of the family.
