Francis "Frank" L. Luetkenhaus, 91, of Columbus died Thursday, March 15, 2007 at the Golden Living Center in Columbus. Funeral services are 10:30 am Monday at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus with the Rev. Joseph A. Miksch officiating. Visitation is on Sunday from 3-5 pm at St. Isidore Church with a 5:00 pm Vigil service, also at the church. Visitation continues Monday morning from 9:30 until service time at the church. Interment is in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the St. Isidore Catholic Church building fund.
Francis "Frank" Luetkenhaus was born November 27, 1915 in Lindsay, Nebraska to Henry and Anna (Boesch) Luetkenhaus. He grew up on the family farm near Lindsay, attended Holy Family Schools in Lindsay and St. Joseph's College in Westmont, Illinois. He married Eleanor "Nora" Van Dyke on September 29, 1942 at St. Bernard Catholic Church. Frank and Nora farmed in the St. Bernard area until 1963. Frank and Nora then built and were the owner/operators of the Midway Motel. Frank also sold advertising specialties for Falcon Specialty Company. He was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church, Holy Name Society, St. Isidore Council of the Knights of Columbus, and was an E.M.E. Frank was an avid gardener, enjoyed playing cards, playing golf in his younger years, and spending time with his family. Frank will always be remembered for his strong faith, his gentle ways, and his ready smile.
