Floreine Mausbach

Floreine died Friday, September 21, 2012 at Meridian Gardens Assisted Living in Columbus. She was one day shy of celebrating her 90th birthday.

Floreine (Greisen) Mausbach was born in Platte Center, Nebraska, to John and Rose (Nienaber) Greisen on September 22, 1922 and lived and worked on the family farm until she married Vincent H. Mausbach on May 27, 1947. They settled on a rented home place across the road from St. Mary Catholic Church four miles south of Humphrey, soon purchasing the farmstead that would be their home for 39 years until they retired to Columbus, Nebraska in 1986.

Floreine was a mainstay on the family farm, doing chores, tending the garden and the home, and caring for six children alongside her husband. Throughout her life, she enjoyed embroidering, crocheting, and sewing, playing cards, dancing to a good polka band, occasionally testing her luck at a local casino especially when she won, and participating in church activities at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church, St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, and at St. Isidore Catholic Church. However, nothing ever meant more to her than spending time with family and friends.

Floreine M. Mausbach is survived by her daughter Joyce (Leonard) Koziol of Norfolk and children Denise (Clint) Alderson and Dana (Kevin) Oswald; daughter Phyllis (Jim) Uchtman of Omaha and children Rebecca Uchtman, Mandie (Dimetrese) Goods, and Rob (Beverly) Uchtman; daughter Barbara (Dennis) Duffy and children Erin (Kirk) Malzer and Michaela Duffy; daughter Donna (Jim) Crebbin and children Clint (Georgina) and Jason Crebbin; son Paul (Mary) Mausbach and children Joe and Emily Mausbach; daughter Teresa (Keith) Kathol and children Ashley and Brandon Kathol; great-grandsons Alex Uchtman, Brady Alderson, Isaiah Goods, Kian and Kade Malzer and Reid Oswald, great-granddaughters Ava Uchtman and Mallory Oswald: brother Jack (Judy) Greisen; and sister Eileen Meysenburg.

Floreine was preceded in death by her husband Vincent, parents John and Rose Greisen, brother Phillip Greisen, sisters Marcella Krings, Margaret Ann Danielski Torson, Dorothy (Dottie) Loeske, brother Joseph Greisen and sister Rita Greisen in infancy, and granddaughter Suzanne Koziol.
