Fern Egger

Fern Elizabeth Egger, Age 88, of Silver Creek, NE passed away at Country View Care Village in Genoa, NE on Wednesday, December 2, 2009. She was born to Fred & Bertha (Johansen) Engel on December 5, 1920 in Duncan, NE. She attended school in Duncan, NE, graduated in 1938 and went on to attend business college in Omaha, NE. Upon graduation she was employed under Civil Service by the Seventh Service Command Headquarters in Omaha, NE adjacent Generals Department for six years during WWII. She was married to Norris A. Egger in 1950. They resided in Columbus, NE. She had three children. During her 30 years of employment at Saunders Archery Company of Columbus, NE she taught many students organ and piano lessons. She was a member of the Methodist Church and very active in Sunday school, bible school and music. She also served as secretary of Administrative board for several years at the Methodist Church in Silver Creek, NE. Following her retirement, Fern worked parttime for two different local insurance agencies and in the Farmers State Bank in Silver Creek. She enjoyed her co-workers and customers.

Fern is survived by one sister Carolyn Wagner of Shelby, two sons Kevin J. (Patricia) Egger, Kimberly S. Egger, one daughter Rochelle F. Fritton, who all currently reside in or near Silver Creek, NE; 9 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Engel; her mother, Bertha Engel; her sister Elaine Sokol and brothers Lee (Tubby) Engel, Donald Engel, Drexel (Andy) Engel and Fred (Fritz) Engel.
