Evelyn Wolpert, age 100, died Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Columbus Community Hospital.
A private family Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Bonaventure Church in Columbus. There will be a CDA rosary prayed at McKown Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 3:30 p.m. followed by visitation from 4:00-6:00 p.m. The Nebraska Nurse Honor Guard will hold honors at 6:00 p.m. followed by a vigil service all at the funeral home. Burial is in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
Evelyn M. Wolpert was born June 9, 1925, to Walter and Gertrude (Sullivan) Spellman in Omaha. She grew up in Omaha and graduated from Sacred Heart High School. Following high school, Evelyn attended St. Joseph’s Nursing School, where she trained to become a registered nurse.
Evelyn was united in marriage in July of 1946 to Francis J. Wolpert in Omaha. To this union, their five children were born: James, Richard, Thomas, Christine, and Steven.
Evelyn was passionate about her 37-year career as a nurse, serving many local hospitals until her retirement in 1982.
Evelyn had a deep and abiding faith. She was a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church where she participated in perpetual adoration for many years and was a member of Catholic Daughters of America. She was dedicated to her family.
