Evelyn Magnuson of Columbus died Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Mory's Haven in Columbus.

Evelyn M. Magnuson was born September 1, 1915 in rural Unadilla, NE to John and Minnie (Zech) Fey. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Unadilla High School. Evelyn went on to attend the University of Nebraska and received her teaching certificate from Peru State College. She taught school in rural Otoe County, Campbell, Pawnee City and in Columbus from 1943-1948 at Field Elementary. On June 30, 1948, Evelyn was united in marriage to Arthur Magnuson in Papillion, NE. They lived in Columbus where Evelyn and Art raised their 3 children.

Evelyn was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church, as well as a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Retired Teachers organization. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, and gardening.

She is survived by:
Daughter Betty (Doug) Brackhan of Columbus
Daughter Joyce (Mike) Davidson of Lincoln
Son David Magnuson of Omaha
Grandchildren: Kimberly (Rod) Smith, Jeff (Summer) Brackhan, Jenny (John) Young, Lisa (Jeff) Baker, Erin Davidson, and Travis Davidson
Great Grandchildren: Cole and Dakota Brackhan, Ethan and Owen Smith

She is preceded in death by:
Husband Arthur Magnuson
Parents John and Minnie Fey
2 Brothers Hilton and Raymond Fey
