Eugene Zimmerer of Columbus, died Monday, February 24, 2020 in Wisner, Nebraska

Mass of Christian Burial is 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February, 29, 2020 at St. Isidore Catholic Church. Visitation is Friday 4-6 p.m. at St. Isidore Church. There will be a vigil service at 6:00 p.m. Friday. Visitation will continue Saturday morning 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be in the All Saints Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Hartman Post #84 Honor Guard.

Eugene Donald Zimmerer was born April 27,1933 in Columbus, Nebraska to John and Elizabeth (Preister) Zimmerer. He grew up in Lindsay and attended school in St. Bernard. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from May of 1953 – May of 1955. Eugene worked at Lindsay Mtg. for his brother Paul. He then owned and operated E-Z Construction for over 50 years until retiring and moving to Columbus. Eugene was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church, Sacred Heart of Jesus and was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, archery and camping. He also loved playing cards, games and going to the horse races.
