Eugene Tworek, 71, of North Andover, Massachusetts, formerly of Columbus, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016, at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, Massachusetts.
Born in Columbus on Aug. 12, 1945, Eugene was the son of the late Stanley and Mary (Teterus) Tworek. He attended St. Stanislaus School in Duncan and graduated from St. Bonaventure High School in Columbus. He was a Regents scholar at the University of Nebraska, studied computer and programing languages with a scholarship at Merrimack College, and attended the University of Lowell, studying logic and design, math and marketing.
Gene was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, serving from 1967 to 1969. Following his service, Gene was honorably discharged as SP5. He currently was the Manager of Information Systems for the town of North Reading, Massachusetts. As an active member of St. Michael Parish in North Andover, Massachusetts, he served as lector. Gene was a 4-H volunteer, served a term as State President of the Massachusetts 4-H Council, and was volunteer at the Lazarus House Homeless Shelter in Lawrence, Massachusetts.
Gene had a gentle spirit; he loved everyone and was universally loved. Gene was a kind, caring individual; he took pride in his work at a 100 percent. He was a true old-fashioned gentleman. He enjoyed duck hunting in his earlier years. Gene enjoyed running and nature walks and loved the outdoors. He was an avid Patriots fan, spoke highly of the military, and was an airplane enthusiast. He especially loved the farm in Nebraska where he grew up.
Family members include his loving brothers, Virgil Tworek-Hofstetter and his wife Mary of Columbus, Edward Tworek and his wife Jeanne of Omaha and Stanley Tworek and his wife Connie of Columbus; sisters, Mary Wagner and her husband Keith of Kearney and Rose Ann Buggi and her husband John, Paulette Paprocki, and Celeste Tworek, all of Columbus; special friend, Cheryl Kenney of Georgetown, Massachusetts; 26 adoring nieces and nephews; and 33 great-nieces and great-nephews
