Eugene Henry Koza, 85, of Silver Creek, passed away on February 2, 2024, at the age of 85 at Josie Harper Hospice House surrounded by family.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 8, 2024 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Silver Creek. Visitation is Wednesday 5-7 p.m. There will be a 7:00 p.m. vigil service all at the Church. Visitation will continue Thursday morning 9:30 a.m. until service time. Interment will be in the St. Lawrence Cemetery.
Eugene was born on October 13, 1938, in Silver Creek, to Henry and Rose (Kmiecik) Koza. He graduated from Silver Creek High School in 1956 and from Nebraska Business College of Omaha in 1958.
He was married to his wife of 63 years Patricia (Prososki) in SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church (Krakow, NE) on May 28, 1960. He and his wife lived and operated their family farm in Silver Creek for over 50 years.
Eugene managed Clougherty Packing in Clarks from 1968 until it closed in 1998. He then worked at Becton - Dickinson in Columbus from where he retired in 2005.
He enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and valued spending time with his wife, family, and friends. In addition, had a passion for sports, enjoying coaching and watching his kids and grandchildren as well as cheering for the Big Red.
He was also an active member of the community serving as Trustee and usher at St Lawrence Catholic Church and on the Silver Creek School's Board of Education.
Eugene is survived by his loving wife, Patricia, and their children: Barbara Holland, Therese (Jim) Scherer, Gerald Koza and Ray (Lisa Hood) Koza and 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and sister: Joan Peters.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Henry and Rose Koza and parents in law: Thomas and Barbara Prososki.
