Eugene Donoghue of Columbus died Friday, December 15, 2017 at Columbus Community Hospital.
Eugene Donoghue was born February 5, 1923 in Platte County, NE to Dan and Elizabeth (Macken) Donoghue. He attended Oakdale District #4 school. Gene was drafted into the US Army during World War II and served from 1944-1946. He was a part of the Normandy invasion into France. Gene returned to the farm northwest of Columbus where he farmed until retiring and moving into Columbus in 1988. He was united in marriage to Berdella Reynoldson on February 26, 1988. Gene loved going to cattle sales and visiting with cattle producers. He was a member of S. Isidore Catholic Church, American Legion Parry Post #283 in Platte Center, and had previously served on the Shell Creek Township Board and Co-Op Board.
