Essie "Lee" Starostka, age 80, of Columbus, Nebraska died Monday June 18, 2001 at the Columbus Community Hospital.
Funeral Services are 10:30 a.m.Thursday June 21, 2001 at the McKown Funeral Home in Columbus, with the Rev. Timothy White officiating. Burial will be in the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus.
Visitation is from 3:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m.Wednesday and from 8:00 a.m. until service time Thursday at McKown Funeral Home.
There will be a 10:15 a.m. Family Prayer Service Thursday at McKown Funeral Home.

Essie "Lee" Starostka was born June 14, 1921 to Harry A and Essie Mable (Jones) Johnson in York, Nebraska. In 1932 she moved to Aurora and graduated from Aurora High School in 1938. She taught school in Aurora for 1 year. She married Ray Conger and upon his death she married Arnold Hemmingsen on April 1, 1947 in Aurora. They lived in Aurora, Hastings and moved to Columbus in 1957. She later married Alfred A. Starostka May 4, 1963 in Madison. She worked for Nebraska Electric G & T Co-op Inc. for 17 years until her retirement.
