Erwin died Saturday August 12, 2017 at his home.
Lifelong Nebraska resident, Erwin Gasper was born July 11, 1930 in Lindsay to Gilbert and Della (Kaus) Gasper. He received his education in Lindsay before entering the U.S. Marine Corps in 1951. He served during the Korean War Conflict, spending most of his time at Camp Pendleton in California before his discharge in 1953. Erwin returned home to Lindsay where he was united in marriage to Irene Marie Henry. The couple was married in 1955. The Gaspers chose to farm and raise their family near Lindsay. He fathered seven children and later relocated to Columbus in 1977. He worked with his father as a painting contractor as well as Babels moving company until his retirement. Erwin loved Polka music, working with antique tractors and other collectibles, and spending time outdoors gardening and planting flowers, as well as spending time with his family.
