Ernest "Ernie" Christensen, Jr. went home to his heavenly father on April 16, 2014. Ernest Christensen, Jr. was born November 27, 1936 in Newman Grove, NE to Ernest and Carrie (Christensen) Christensen. They moved to Monroe and then to Columbus. He attended 1st Ward school and graduated from Kramer High School in 1956. His first job was setting pins at Blakes Bowling Alley. He started working for Jackson Cleaners in 1956 and worked there until 1964 as a delivery person. Ernie then started at Becton Dickinson and continued there until 2001, retiring after 37 years.
Ernie loved life and being around people, especially loved the small children who he could get high 5s from. He was an avid sports fan, but most of all he loved his family and was so proud of them and his home. Ernie enjoyed reading, bicycle riding, having coffee with friends at Hy-Vee, and sitting on his front porch. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and loved taking his grandson for train rides.
Ernie was united in marriage to Sylvia Coffey on July 22, 1972 in Exeter, NE at St. Stephens Church.
Ernie was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church for 39 years, an usher for 30 years, and a member of perpetual adoration. He had a very strong faith and his favorite saying was A family that prays together stays together.
We were so blessed to have had him in our lives and will always keep him in our hearts!
