Erma A. Hajek of Columbus died Wednesday, November 5, 2003 at her home. Funeral services are 10:00 am Saturday, November 8, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus with the Rev. Del Lape officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 3-5 pm at McKown Funeral Home and after 6 pm at St. Anthony's. There will be a Vigil service Friday at 7:00 pm, also at St. Anthony's. Visitation continues Saturday morning from 8-9:30 am at McKown Funeral Home Interment is in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.

Erma Hajek was born April 21, 1923 in Stanton County, Nebraska to Emil & Bessie (Podany) Hajek. She grew up in Stanton County and graduated from Clarkson High School. She went on and graduated from Wayne State Teachers College in 1942. She taught grade school for two years. She married Leander "Lee" Hajek on August 22, 1946 at St. Cyril & Methodius Church in Clarkson. They lived on a farm north of Clarkson for 15 years before moving to Columbus. In Columbus she went to work for Dale Electronics for 26 years. She was an avid reader and a published author. Erma volunteered at the Hospital Gift Shop and for Meals on Wheels. She loved her grandchildren and grandbabies and was a devoted catholic member of St. Anthony's Church. She enjoyed watching football, dancing, working outdoors, birds, traveling and working on the computer.

Son Phil (Kris) Hajek of Overland Park, KS
Brother Leonard Hajek of Clarkson, NE
Sister-in-law Virginia Hajek of Waconia, MN
