Erin Christine Bettenhausen, 3, daughter of Chris and Holli (Krings) Bettenhausen, died Friday, October 29, 2004 at her home in rural Columbus. Funeral services are 10:00 am Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Platte Center with the Rev. Rodney Kneifl officiating. Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm Monday at St. Joseph's Church in Platte Center with a Vigil service to follow at 7:00 pm, also at St. Joseph Church. Visitation continues Tuesday morning from 9 am until service time at the church. Interment will be in Ss. Patrick/Joseph Cemetery in rural Platte Center. Memorials are suggested to the donors choice. Erin Christine Bettenhausen was born November 1, 2001 in Norfolk to Chris and Holli (Krings) Bettenhausen. She was baptized at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Platte Center. Erin was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor (Rhabdoid) on May 6, 2003. She received treatments the past 18 months at Children's Hospital in Omaha. After a brief remission, Erin relapsed in August of 2004. Given the option of continuing treatments or spending time at home with her family, Erin returned to her home. In early October the Make-A-Wish foundation granted Erin her playhouse. Erin enjoyed purse's, picking flowers, dolls, horses, stuffed animals, and watching movies.
