Emogene "Em" Wunderlich died Monday, June 16, 2014 at the Golden Living Center in Columbus.
Emogene Wunderlich was born May 5, 1923 in Platte Center, Nebraska to Francis and Genevieve (Regan) Kemnitz. She graduated from St. Bonaventure High School in 1941. On August 21, 1946 Em was united in marriage to Al Wunderlich at St. Bonaventure Church in Columbus. In the early 1950's the couple started catering cocktails in homes which eventually led to a partnership with Al's brother Max and became Wunderlichs Catering. Em also worked for Nielsen Chevrolet, Platte County Clerks Office and ABC Coating. She also worked at the Columbus Races for 25 years. They retired from Wunderlichs Catering in 1991 and moved to their home in Ericson, Nebraska. Following Al's death in 1998 she moved back to Columbus. Al and Em loved to travel and visited 15 of the central western states and spent many winters in Phoenix, Arizona. Her hobbies included cross-stitch, embroidery, cryptogram and crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed getting together with family.
Em was a member of St. Bonaventure Church, Marian Guild, Perpetual Adoration and an auxiliary member of the Legion of Mary. She also did volunteer work in the St. Bonaventure Church and Scotus High School office. Em served on the parish council, sang in the church choir for 10 years, was chairperson for several bazaar dinners and was banquet chairperson for the 100 year celebration at St. Bonaventure.
