Elizabeth "Betty" Louise White, 86, of Silver Creek died Thursday, February 17, 2005 at Columbus Community Hospital. Funeral services are 10:30 am Monday at the United Methodist Church in Silver Creek with the Rev. Bev Hieb officiating. Visitation is on Sunday from 5-7 pm at the United Methodist Church in Silver Creek and continues Monday morning from 9:30 am until service time, also at the church. Interment is in the Silver Creek Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church in Silver Creek.
Elizabeth "Betty" Louise White was born January 4, 1919 in Omaha to August "Guss" and Clara (Schupbach) Blaser. She was raised in Silver Creek where she attended schools before graduating in 1937 from Silver Creek High School. Betty helped with her father's plumbing business, served as a Librarian for 17 years, worked in the Post Office, and at Kula's grocery store. She married George "Babe" White in August of 1949 in Grand Island. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Silver Creek, over 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary, served on the City Library Board, the Silver Creek Housing Authority, Financial Chairperson of the Methodist Church, and the church quilting/sewing club. Betty enjoyed fishing with her husband, crossword puzzles, and playing cards.
