Eleanor &Quot;Nora&Quot; Luetkenhaus

Eleanor "Nora" Luetkenhaus, age 90, of Columbus died peacefully, Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at her home in Columbus.
Nora was born August 1, 1921 in Lindsay, Nebraska to Thomas and Elizabeth (Eckolt) Van Dyke. She received her education at St. Bernard School, and to get there, she rode by horse and buggy with her siblings. She married Francis "Frank" Luetkenhaus on September 29, 1942 at St Bernard Catholic Church. They took great pride in the farming of their land near Lindsay until 1963, when they ventured out to build and become owners and operators of the MidWay Motel by Humphrey. Nora was an active member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Humphrey where she served as President of the Christian Mothers Organization. Frank and Nora later retired in Columbus and were members of St. Isidore Parish. Nora continued to be involved with the Christian Mothers and the Catholic Daughters of America. Her most valued gift in life was her passion for her Catholic faith, which she instilled in her children. Her daily praying of the rosary, and for many years, daily Holy Mass, granted many blessings to her family and friends. Nora was a beautiful person, a loving wife and mother. Nora's love for bowling gave her many years of fun and wonderful friendships. She was a treasure to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and she will be truly missed.
