Elaine Borchers

Elaine Borchers, 81, of Grand Island, formerly of Columbus, died Tuesday, December 4, 2001 at Lakeview Nursing Home in Grand Island. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Timothy White will officiate. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus. Visitation will also be Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be in the Columbus Cemetery.

Elaine was born May 29, 1920 on a rural Bellwood, Nebraska farm to B.R. and Fern (McClotchey) Creech. She attended school in rural Bellwood and graduated from Octavia High School. Following high school she baby sat and worked as a hired girl for several area families. She then worked at Woolworths Dime Store in Columbus.
Elaine married George Borchers June 30, 1951 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for 60 years where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a member of the Trinity Circle and Quilters Ladies. Along with her husband she cleaned Trinity Lutheran Church for 10 years. She enjoyed flowers, gardening and spending time with her family.
