Edwin F. Voigt

Edwin died Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Morys Haven in Columbus.

Edwin F. Voigt was born May 2, 1930 in Bon Homme County, South Dakota near Avon to Ralph and Katie (Fisher) Voigt. He came to an early personal relationship with Jesus and was baptized at Tyndal Baptist Church. Edwin graduated from Augustana College and North American Baptist Seminary is Sioux Falls with a Masters degree. He married Vernice Menke on June 3, 1955 at the Shell Creek Baptist Church north of Columbus. Edwin and Vernice ministered at Baptist churches in Bison, SD, Vesper, KS, Beulah, ND, and Corn, OK. Through the years Edwin also worked for Job Service and social services in Huron, SD, Mandan, ND, Wahpeton, ND and Martin, SD. In 1995 Edwin retired and the couple moved to Columbus. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Columbus and enjoyed woodworking, gardening, reading, and playing and singing music. He especially enjoyed visiting and sharing the message of love and salvation he found through Jesus Christ over a doughnut and coffee.

Brother: Harlan (Marian) Voigt of Avon, SD
Sister: Irene (Andy) Eben of Avon, SD
Sister: Ruth Krull of Sheldon, IA
Seven Grandchildren: Patricia, Sarah, Rebecca, Benjamin, Rachel, Bethany and David
One Great Grandson: Roman
Many Nieces, Nephews and Cousins
