Edwin J. Smolenski, age 69, of rural Osceola, Nebraska died Saturday, January 8, 2005 at his home. Funeral Services are 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at St. Mary's Pilsno, rural Osceola, Nebraska with Reverend James W. Cooper officiating. Burial is in the St. Mary's Cemetery with military honors by Silver Creek Post #263 American Legion Honor Guard. Visitation is 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus. Visitation continues Tuesday morning from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church.
Edwin J. Smolenski was born July 31, 1935 in Osceola, Nebraska to Louis and Valeria (Lisko) Smolenski. In 1947 he became active in farming and livestock feeding. Edwin served in the U.S. Army from 1958 - 1960. Following his discharge he returned home to continue farming until his death. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #263 in Silver Creek and an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church Pilsno his entire life.

spending time with and were very special to him.
